Misheck was sharing with his cousin trying to encourage him in his faith. After finishing a young man approached him who had been overhearing the conversation. He shared with Misheck his struggles and claimed to be demon possessed. Misheck was able to share with him that he was a child of God and protected and prayed with the man. the man went away feeling lighter and Misheck will be meeting ag with him tomorrow to encouragement and disciple him further. You never know who is listening!
Bette shared how her aunt had come to live with her other aunt and uncle whom Bette is living with. The aunt was very sick and actually HIV+. Bette had 2 things to offer. She shared Romans 8:28 (a scripture her sponsor had sent as an encouragement earlier this week) offered to pray and then, taking the teaching she has been receiving, counseled her aunt that we have authority even over sickness and led her in a prayer for healing. The aunt today is feeling much better and wanted to go to the clinic to be tested again. She believes she was healed. We do to!
I (Jeff) will just add a note to this one. Bette has been struggling in class all week. She was doubting God because her own terrible circumstances of which I wrote earlier. Wow my faith was lifted as Bette even in the midst of her own struggles still pulled up the conviction, faith and belief to give to her aunt. THAT’S a Kingdom Carrier! Way to go Bette!
God is awakening these kid’s spirits as well. Matise has had 2 amazing dreams about the school and how it will function. they were instructive and encouraging to the class. Rose shared Thursday she was awakened at 12 am in the morning with a conviction to pray (by name) for the class. She did! After she shared this I asked the class if anyone was struggling through the night. Kelvin, Misheck and Martin all shared specific struggles occurring to them at the exact time Rose was awakened. Way to be obedient and sensitive Rose! Nsofwas also shared some significant insights that God has been revealing.
It’s been a great week. We had an amazing worship experience Wed when the kids all prostrate and kneeling on the floor experienced the Love of the Father as the song Oh How He Loves Me played softly in the background.
We also began our vocational teaching this week. They had some great teachings on business entrepreneurship and what it takes to succeed in any business endeavor. They’ve done some good group work and have some practical projects in store for next week.
It’s been a hard week too. The weather has turned very cold, temp in the 50’s, windy and overcast. All these kids have little in the way of warm clothing and not nice place to sleep. They were incredibly cold all week. It was overcast and physically there were struggles. I also am absolutely freezing here! Also, we can’t forget they are just kids. There’s been some pettiness some jealousies and normal teen and 20 somethings relational stuff to work through. all part of a maturing process. Sometimes it’s painful sometimes it’s exciting. All of it is the journey….
Keep praying for them they are so vulnerable but so eager and they believe and want to walk this stuff out.
